Traditionally, the people of Santo Domingo Pueblo (now known as Kewa) made very large storage jars for use in storage of  water and/or grain. The form and designs of their pottery have evolved directly from their traditions. This black-on-cream storage jar follows that tradition and yet it stands out for its artistry and patina.

The positive and negative designs of this jar are accentuated by the beautiful form and patina.  Having survived in excellent condition, this Santo Domingo jar is one of the best of its kind.
